Hello!  नमस्ते !  ਸਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ !

My name is Kavaljit Kaur Anand. I am the artist, embroiderer, and the creative force behind Kaur Embroidery & Embellishments. I grew up in a small and beautiful town called Khopoli, at the foothills of the Sahyadris, before settling down in Mumbai. In summer 2015, I chose to take a step back from my corporate job, and seek something more meaningful and more fulfilling. I took up a short course in hand embroidery that acquainted me with some of the traditional forms of Indian embroidery. I would say that my love for this artform was a very gradual and organic process.

Eventually, through lots of experimentation, hours of practice & numerous trials and errors, my embroidery skills refined. Over the next two years, creating artworks for family and friends gave me the confidence to pursue hand embroidery as a full-time profession. In 2017, I dove right into the realm of creative business ownership and launched Kaur Embroidery and Embellishments.

Each of my artwork begins as a sketch—often made directly on the fabric before it is meticulously hand-stitched. Though a lot of my artwork is inspired by nature and the outdoors, I seek to maintain a versatility of theme and medium in my artform. I love the relaxed, conscious, and meditative qualities of hand embroidery, and I am always eager to keep learning and be inspired!

Relocating from Mumbai to Nashik during the pandemic turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as I was able to meet some hardworking and passionate women from the nearby villages. It was a great opportunity for me to acquaint them with the idea of embroidery as a profession, train them with the art of embroidery and empower them to handle their financial needs independently. Today, I proudly work with 6 women hand embroiderers as part of my team.
